LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) formed a five-member fact-finding committee on Monday (October 30) which has started an investigation against former chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq over alleged shares in a company owned by the players' agent leading to a conflict of interest, sources reported on Tuesday.

The committee wants to finish the investigation as soon as possible and, as sources reported, the time frame is likely to be one week.

Once the investigation is completed, the fact-finding team will submit its report and recommendations to the head of the PCB Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf, to make the final decision.

The primary focus of this committee is to delve into the claims related to a conflict of interest that has emerged concerning the team selection process.

It was rumoured that Inzamam holds shares in a company owned by players' agent Talha Rehmani.

This disclosure sparked concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest, given that Rehmani represents several of Pakistan's leading cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Furthermore, there are additional queries surrounding whether Inzamam's dual role as both Chief Selector and a shareholder in a company that represents top cricketers might have an influence on player selection decisions.

Earlier on October 30, Inzamam resigned from his position as the chief selector of the men’s national team following the news accusing him of having a “conflict of interest”.

"People speak without research. Questions were raised on me so I decided that it was better I resign," Inzamam said in a statement according to Geo News.

It must be noted that Inzamam was appointed as the chief selector of the men's national team on August 7 by the then-newly appointed head of the PCB Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf.

Before that, Inzamam served as chief selector from 2016 to 2019. He selected the team which won the Champions Trophy under the leadership of Sarfaraz Ahmed in 2017.
